Have less and love what you have-resist spending/purchasing.
If you had one
beautiful doll, you would see it and love it. If you had 100 beautiful dolls,
it would be hard to see that one doll and remember/realize its beauty. Keep
your possessions minimal so that you can enjoy what you have. Think about a
simple home and life when you are considering shopping. Better yet, avoid
shopping whenever you can.

Host a swap meet.
Swap meets are great. Day of Blessing is another name we have used. Host a swap
and invite folks to participate. You may
want to limit the swap to specific needs like children's toys, clothes, and
equipment or hold a full scale event. You can also choose to be very structured
with participants getting tickets for bringing items in order to use them to
"buy" items. This can be a small event with 5-10 moms or it can be an
entire community, it's all what you make of it.
Create your own desk accessories.
Great desk accessories are hard to find. When
you find a great one they can be super expensive, too. Try using cereal boxes
and product packages for various needs around your desk and other places in
your home. If you want them to be pretty you can spruce them up with tacky
shelf liner (tacky as in sticky!), tape and scrapbook paper, or colored duct
tapes.
